The orb (live)

The Orb, founded in 1988 by Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty, pioneered ambient house by blending chillout, dub, and electronics, famously breaking through with "Little Fluffy Clouds". Driven by Paterson’s evolving collaborations (notably Thomas Fehlmann, Youth, and Gaudi), the band is renowned for immersive live shows, 360-degree sound, and a five-decade career of innovative, sample-heavy ambient music.

Aries

It’s a journey that started in the ‘90s with a desire to fly the flag for the growing culture heloves, and it’s one that has since seen the midlands-born artist become a multi-award winning name. Aries has spread the dub-wise strain of jungle to audiences as far as the USA and Australia through DJing on countless sound systems and crafting well known productions such as ‘Herbsmoke’ and ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’.

While jungle will always be the heartbeat behind Aries’ history in the scene, championingfresh sounds is the driver of this artist’s ambition. It’s the reason why you’ll regularly see Aries laying down electric D&B sets on the biggest stages of the international festival circuit alongside his Born on Road family. Through his label ventures, Aries has been connecting with a new generation of ravers – educating an appreciation for the culture and roots he cut his teeth in, while creating a legacy for future generations to be a part of.

After years spent navigating the roads of the scene, you’d be forgiven for thinking Aries might be slowing down, but we’re only going to see him work up through the gears from here on out. Whether its his desire to take Born On Road from being a locally celebrated label in Bristol to an acclaimed imprint worldwide, or his motivation to push his own music output to new levels, there’s no doubting the road ahead will see Aries evolve as an artist while continuing to build on the legacy he has already created.

Hong kong ping pong

During the late 00’s in the farthest flung reaches of the South West a group of friends were brought together by a mutual love of good music. With roots in Funk, Hip Hop, Big Beat and Breaks they had a no holds barred attitude to their tune selection, playing a multi genre smorgasbord each bringing their own flavour to the mix. Refusing to be pigeonholed and taking inspiration from nights like ‘The Heavenly Social’ and ‘The Big Beat Boutique’ ‘The Hong Kong Ping Pong Club’ was conceived. They rapidly gained a loyal party loving following at their spiritual home and residency ‘The Watermans’ in Falmouth and were soon playing host to the great and good within the scene. Thrusting themselves into the limelight with the infamous ‘Mixtape’ series the next logical step was to take the show on the road and bookings for booths in clubs and stages in fields quickly followed. They have opened the Ghetto Funk Nightclub at Shindig Festival on numerous occasions, ran their own stage at Leopallooza and have become main stays at Shambala and The Great Estate and are once again promoting their own night’s back in Falmouth. Expect beats, breaks, glitch, bass, amens, skank, swing, wobs, brass and all that other good stuff.
